Tiffany Spelman, founder and CEO of FlowerHill Facility Services, smiling in a green blouse

Tiffany Spelman, in short: Tiffany Spelman is the founder and CEO of FlowerHill Facility Services, a women-owned commercial cleaning company in North Richland Hills, Texas. She started it in 2020 to support her family, beginning with one office-cleaning contract. Since then it has grown into a WBENC-certified company cleaning offices, plants, warehouses and medical buildings in 21+ Dallas–Fort Worth cities. She graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in April 2026 and has been a BSCAI member since 2021.

How Tiffany Spelman started FlowerHill

FlowerHill did not start with a business plan and a fleet of vans. As Tiffany Spelman told CleanLink, she got into commercial cleaning by offering to clean her husband’s company’s office. That first contract went well, then another followed, and she saw that it could become a real business built on service and long-term relationships.

In her own words, she started FlowerHill Facility Services in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex “just to support my family.” Six years later the company employs frontline crews across the metroplex. It holds WBENC Women’s Business Enterprise, WOSB and SBE certifications and serves clients from Fort Worth and Alliance to Plano, Irving and Dallas.

Along the way she learned what most owners learn: growth is easy to want and hard to do well. Here are five lessons from how Tiffany Spelman has built FlowerHill, drawn from her interviews and her own posts about the business.

1. Grow better, not just bigger

When she was accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in February 2026, Tiffany wrote that she is always looking for ways to grow, “not just bigger, but better.” She named what better means: better systems, better leadership, better financial stewardship and better opportunities for the team.

For a cleaning company, better shows up in small, unglamorous places. A written scope for every building. A supervisor who actually inspects. A night crew that knows which conference room the CEO uses at 7 a.m. Clients rarely see the systems, but they notice right away when they are missing.

2. Take care of the people who do the work

Janitorial work happens at night, often unseen, and turnover is high across the industry. Tiffany Spelman made the frontline team the center of the company. In a BSCAI member profile on CleanLink, she described creating “an environment where both clients and frontline team members feel valued.”

That approach pays off for clients. She has seen team members stay even when offered more hours elsewhere, because they feel cared for, respected and valued at FlowerHill. A crew that stays learns the building. A crew that learns the building cleans it better every month.

3. Learn from people who have already done it

Tiffany joined BSCAI, the Building Service Contractors Association International, in 2021. In 2022 she joined a BSCAI peer group of business owners with decades of experience. She credits the group with changing how she thinks about decisions, finances and long-term strategy.

One example: during a recent acquisition, her peer group pushed her to look harder at the numbers and the downside risk before committing. Her advice to other owners who join an industry association is short: “Don’t just attend. Participate!”

4. Run the business on processes and real numbers

Peer feedback and formal training moved FlowerHill toward defined processes, a quality assurance program and a clear view of true profitability. Tiffany is open that the work is still in progress, which is what you want to hear from a company that cleans your building every night.

In April 2026 she graduated from Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, delivered locally through Dallas College. The program helps owners build a growth plan with coaching on finance, negotiation, marketing and managing people. She wrote that it pushed her “to think bigger, lead better, and get really clear on where we’re going next.”

5. Earn trust one building at a time

FlowerHill’s growth has come from consistency, not flash. Clients stay because the same standard shows up every night. One client who has worked with FlowerHill for four years wrote in a Google review that “Tiffany and her crew are personable, consistent, and professional.”

That consistency is backed by the basics facility managers check first: bonded, insured and background-checked crews, night and day crews available 24/7, and a written scope with one monthly price. The company’s certifications as a women-owned business also help clients with supplier-diversity goals. Read more on our WBENC-certified janitorial services guide.
